A global company in the resource sector had multiple approaches to both safety observation (checking your mates) and personal risk assessment (checking yourself) across the company on an international scale. There was also variation in the quality of application of these processes, and in some areas confusion at managerial levels as to what process should be used. This confusion had a direct impact on the safety of all employees who work for the company which could be seen in the way employees approached their personal safety.
Think Design Execute was engaged to design the online learning and facilitator lead programs for both safety observation and personal risk assessment. These programs were delivered using a blended learning approach, with a combination of online, face to face and one on one coaching to ensure competency was achieved. The learner was engaging, requiring the learner to interact with the screen and then apply what they had learned to scenarios that were directly related to their workplace.
Online and face to face modules were successfully designed and developed in English then translated into 4 languages – Mexican Spanish, Indonesian Bahasa, Turkish and French Canadian
Training is now consistent across the globe for both safety observation and personal risk assessment
Quality was ensured through successful collaboration with global Occupational Health and Safety leaders
Project was managed on time and within budget
Safety observation and personal risk assessments are completed regularly and correctly, ultimately contributing to a lower lost time injury rate
